Our Nephew’s Nursery

November 4, 2016 by 32 Comments

Many of you know that Mr. Handsome is the oldest of seven children. So far, he and his sister Anne are the only ones who are married, although Joseph is engaged and will be tying the knot next month.Anne has a two-year-old daughter named Ana, and she just gave birth to a son! She had the nursery ready before the baby was born and was pleasantly surprised to find out that decorating a boy’s room was just as much fun as a girl’s room.

What do you think of the finished product? Anne and her husband moved Ana to a toddler bed so they wouldn’t have to buy a new crib, and the other items are either gifts or thrift store finds.

I would move the soft dog off the wall over the crib in a little while, as well as take those letters away from the changing table as soon as the baby can reach or grab that far. Hopefully a second-time mom knows that nothing should be within reach in those two places.

Kids don't touch that stuff on the walls.

My sister had stuff on her walls like they and her kids didn't touch it when they were babies.

Well just because your sister's children didn't, doesn't mean all children won't ๐Ÿ™‚ I think it depends on their personality and height! But I'm sure her sister in law will move the letters if it becomes an issue.

Ha ha – my son managed to reach thru the bars of the crib at nap time and got hold of the baby powder, which was open. The mess I found when I opened the door!! Kids touch whatever they can get their hands on and whatever is within reach!

Babies grab everything! They could pull that dog down without any problem. Choking and suffocating hazard.

Some kids do, and it's a SIDS risk. That's why you're not supposed to have anything soft hanging within 3 feet of a crib, including curtains. The baby could pull it into the crib and suffocate. I don't hang anything above my kids' cribs or beds because no matter how secure it is, there's always a possibility it can fall.

Your sister was incredibly lucky that nothing happened. That is not usually the case with anything that close to the crib or changing table.

She might move the crib and changing table away from the wall too.

". . . decorating a boy's room was just as much fun as a girl's room." You don't say? Ellie, I don't normally find your writing to blatantly sexist. Friend, it's 2016 you really need to reflect on gender roles if you thought decorating a sons nursery is some how less enjoyable than decorating a daughters.

      Hi Andrea,

I can see how that remark could sound sexist, but I know she didn't mean it that way. I think she mean that as a female, she really enjoyed making her daughter's room super girly. She was excited to decorate her son's room but didn't realize until she got into it just how many options there were to make it manly but still cute. I think Pinterest helped a lot. Lol.

Hope that clears it up. ๐Ÿ™‚

Random questions: Do you wear skirts all the time, or do you wear pants too?
Are you part of ATI? I think its interesting.

Nope, we're not part of ATI, although we do plan to homeschool our kids. And I don't wear skirts all the time. I would get way too cold in the winter! ๐Ÿ™‚
