We initially had a crew of six seamstresses (Gram, my mother-in-law, three of Mr. Handsome’s sisters, and myself).
At the last minute, my sweet husband and his brother-in-law (the husband of his oldest sister, Anne) decided to join in on the fun. They were such troopers, and we couldn’t have done it without their help.
I must say that Mr. Handsome surprised me with his incredible sewing skills, and he kept us laughing with his one-liners.
“Things seem to be going pretty seamlessly.”
“Some of these needles are so dull, they’re pointless to use.”
“I’m a little nervous using this sewing machine; I feel like I’m on pins and needles.”
In five hours, we knocked out 30 infinity scarves, made of a variety of knit and cotton fabrics. (The YouTube tutorial we used is embedded below.)
My 12-year-old sister-in-law, Lena, offered to model one of the scarves.

Mr. Handsome sounds so funny! 😉
That's a great idea! Haha, you're husband has a scence of humor like my brother–things like, (as he's picking up a banana) this looks very appealing:) Looked like a lot if fun!
What a beautiful idea. Are the scarfs donated to a charity, or do they go to friends and family? What different types of crafts do you enjoy? I enjoyed Mr. Handsome's one-liners, and I think it's great to have him helping out! He seems like a man of many talents. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families!
Hi there,
Most of the scarves will be given away as gifts to family and friends, but I like the idea of donating them to charity. I'll keep that in mind for next year!
Ellie
Seams you two are being literal about Ellie being a Proverbs kind of a woman, (Mr Handsome's goal and he's being hands on in her training to be sew.)
Brillant idea for homemade & heartfelt gifts!! Big hug from Italy
What a great idea! Please share some of the other crafts they've done in years past….need ideas!
Hi there,
Last year, they made burlap wreaths using a tutorial similar to this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOVJOxmuB-g

Sounds like a day filled with fun and making memories. The scarves turned out very pretty. I think who ever receives one will proudly wear it
Mr. Handsome is funny! Sounds like he kept you in stitches – hahaha
I'm just wondering who you made the gifts for? It sounds like you all had fun.
Hi there!
Most of the scarves will go to my husband's assistants at his dental office and to my married sister-in-law's family.
Blessings,
Ellie
Which brand of sewing machine do you use?
I have been searching for one. Thanks .
Hi there!
My mother-in-law just purchased a Brother sewing machine that works great. Mine is a Singer, although it belonged to my grandmother and is about 20 years old.
Blessings,
Ellie
