East Coast Christmas Wedding 2

January 12, 2017 by 22 Comments

On Sunday, I posted photos from my brother-in-law’s rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony. You asked for more snapshots, so here are some from the reception immediately following the ceremony. The cake was made by Mr. Handsome’s cousin. She is in her early 20s and is a professional baker. Her cake is out of this world. I asked if she wanted to share the recipe, but she said she wants to keep it a secret. Boy would it be wonderful to have though! (The cupcakes I posted to my Facebook page were also made by her.)

I took these pictures before guests arrived because I knew you all would want to see photos of the tables. My sister-in-law did a wonderful job.

Just under 200 guests attended the wedding.

Mr. Handsome is the oldest in a family of seven kids, and he was the best man. His speech was top notch. The perfect balance between funny and sentimental.

East Coast Christmas Wedding 1

January 8, 2017 by 20 Comments

As many of you know, my brother-in-law got married a few weeks ago. The wedding was a beautiful Christmas affair on the East Coast.I recently posted photos of the hairstyles that myself and two of the other bridesmaids wore, and you requested that I share more snapshots from the weekend. Here the are! More coming soon.

The first two are from the rehearsal dinner, and the second two were taken at the ceremony. The last picture shows the church when we first arrived. We put the poinsettias, altar, and two chairs in the back room because the wedding colors were green and gold (not red).

We didn’t need to add extra decorations to the stage because it was such a beautiful chapel on its own. After the ceremony, it took us less than 10 minutes to return the church to the way it was before the wedding.

More Wedding Pics

December 11, 2015 by 21 Comments

A little birdie told me that you all would like to see a few more wedding pictures. Well, your wish is my command! Let me share a few of my favorites. After Mr. Handsome’s uncle–who officiated our wedding ceremony–gave the message, we sang two congregational songs, “Mighty to Save” and “What a Friend We Have In Jesus.” Then, before officially becoming man and wife, we spent a few precious moments dedicating our marriage to the Lord. We prayed together…

…And took Communion.

This picture shows us walking out of the sanctuary, with Mr. Handsome’s uncle smiling in the background. We were the first family members to ask him to perform our wedding ceremony, and I know he really enjoyed having that honor.

Here’s a humorous one. We took photos at a nearby garden, and the photographer instructed us to walk hand-in-hand while she snapped pictures. It really was a romantic moment, but this action shot makes it look like Mr. Handsome is trying to convince me to run away with him. It makes us laugh every time we see it!

DIY Wedding Reception

September 11, 2015 by 17 Comments

We were married at a local Baptist church, and our wedding reception was held in my inlaws’ backyard. They own a country property with several acres of land and plenty of shade trees. The red building in the pictures below is called the barn, although it is really just a glorified tool shed that is sometimes home to a few chickens. (The chickens all passed away over the winter, and my inlaws decided to wait until after the wedding to replace them.)

Due to rain, our initial plan to set up for the reception all day Friday didn’t work out. Rain was also in the forecast for Saturday, but thankfully we had the library banquet hall reserved as a backup location.

After the rehearsal dinner on Friday, we looked at the weather radar and decided to risk it and start setting up outside. A couple dozen friends and family members from out of town came over to the house, and within an hour, the backyard was transformed into a beautiful wedding venue.
On Saturday morning, while my bridesmaids and I were having our hair and makeup done, everyone else was back at the house adding last minute decorations. When Mr. Handsome and I walked into the backyard after the wedding ceremony, we were blown away. It was a scene right out of a magazine, and there was even a private dinner table set up for us in the tree house.
The weather was perfect, and our guests enjoyed themselves immensely.
The tables were decorated with mason jars sitting on slabs of wood that Mr. Handsome cut himself. As you can see, the large jars had hydrangeas in them. Each small jar had a batter-powered tea light sitting on white sugar. (Our initial plan was to use sand, but all the sand we found was dirt colored.)
