Happy Friday! Today (or any day that you are reading this post), Mr. Handsome and I are discussing our greatest accomplishments. One of our readers asked us this question, so we thought we would tackle it in a video. And we would love to hear from you in the comments section. What are your greatest accomplishments? Any type of accomplishment is fair game. Perhaps you have won the Nobel Peace Prize, or maybe the thing that comes to mind is something a little less intense, like what we mentioned. No feat is too small (or too large).
If I had to list another one, I would say hiking to the top of the Big Beehive at Lake Louise, during our trip to the Canadian Rockies two years ago (see photo above). By the time we made it back to our car, we had hiked 8.6 miles and gained an elevation of 1,770 feet.
Mine would be graduating high school and starting college at age 14!
Wow!
Ellie and Mr. Handsome, that sound like great accomplishments! My greatest accomplishment would be learning how to swim when I was 28 yrs. old, that was 38 yrs. ago. It felt great because I was afraid to get in water over my ankles as a young girl.
That’s awesome! Do you enjoy swimming today?
Ellie
I don’t swim much these days. The last time was 3 yrs. ago at my grandson’s indoor pool birthday party.
My greatest accomplishment is raising 5 productive citizens as a single parent, and I couldn’t have done it without the help of the Lord or my Momma. Their father really missed out.
That’s an incredible accomplishment, Benita! What is the age range of your kids?
Ellie
My greatest accomplishment is becoming a Marine and earning my bachelor’s degree while still in the service.
Thank you for your service! Do you move around a lot as a Marine, or are you stationed in one place long-term?
Ellie
When I lived in Whistler BC, I Bungeed Jumped, I was scared of hight’s, I was super scared, I mean crazy scared, so I had to MAKE MYSELF do IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am no longer scared of hight’s as I used to, and I can go on ladders like without feeling sick+full anxiety anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my! Did you enjoy bungee jumping? Would you do it again?
Ellie
I would go bungee jumping now, and I want to Bungee again!!!! Whistler Bungee, is in a very beautiful area, it’s over water, and U can see the mountains!!!!!!!!
The sound is too faint. Disappointed it is hard to hear.
I worked on a project in school that took 2 years to complete. I was the first girl in the history of the school to attempt such a project. I was recognized for it at the end. The fruits of that project are still multiplying. I won’t get more specific because details don’t matter, only the fact that I did this special thing that impressed all my teachers and the student body, made school history, and is still in use today.
I also spearheaded a fundraiser that raised a huge amount of money for a child who needed an organ transplant. Those were the days before the Internet or social media or Go Fund Me. It was a lot of work but the family’s expenses were covered for the entire transplant process.
People can do anything, if they put their minds to it, work hard, and persevere.
Thanks for sharing both your accomplishments! What a kind thing that you did for that child. I’m sure the family will be forever grateful.
Ellie
Mr Handsome is too funny! Iโm with you though Ellie, I have never and do not ever plan to buy eight gallons of milk in one shopping trip.
My greatest accomplishment would be learning how to drive truck and getting my CDL at 32. Most of the male drivers thought it was great seeing a woman driving truck alone especially since it’s not always easy driving and backing up an 18 wheeler.
That’s super impressive!
My greatest accomplishment would be winning numerous bowling trophies when I was younger.
Marilyn
That’s great! Bowling is a hard sport (especially when you take the bumpers off, which I can never do, LOL).
Ellie
My children are 24, 27, almost 30 and almost 31. When they visit me it surprises them that I still have the family dog 12 and the family cat 16. That’s my accomplishment and what they do is theirs’.
That’s sweet. I’m sure they love being able to see the animals that they grew up with.
Ellie
Cute mountain top photo.
Thanks! ๐
my biggest accomplishment is climbing scarfell pike mountain in the lake district England in 2012. I had never climbed a mountain before. it was hard work but each time I have a hard time I remember that if I can do that. I can do anything.
Earlier this year my workplace voted for a frontline hero (a person who has made a positive impact on your working life) and I won this award. this would be another accomplishment as I never thought I stood a chance of winning.
Congratulations! How long did the mountain climb take you? And that award sounds like a huge honor.
Ellie
We started at 8.30am in the morning and finished just after 2.30pm. having stopped to admire the view and have some lunch.
I came back from acute pancreatitis. I was in a coma and had to have emergency surgery to drain fluid away from my organs. I then had to learn to stand, walk and learn basic movements again AA a 25 year old. I was told I would not live alone or work again. I have my own place and have hold a full time job.
Oh my goodness! That’s an incredible feat. How long did it take to learn to walk again?
Ellie
I was in rehab for 6 weeks learning how to walk and other skills. I then did home therapy.
That’s very impressive. I’m sure it was very touch. Good for you for pushing through and not listening to the naysayers.
Ellie
My biggest accomplishments are earning a PhD, and becoming a mom. These two events both happened within a couple months of each other! I thought I knew the meaning of sacrifice after enduring the journey of graduate school. But the truth is, becoming a parent is the ultimate sacrifice and probably the most gratifying sacrifice too.
Thanks for a great blog, Ellie!
Congratulations! What is your PhD in?
Ellie
My children are my greatest accomplishment! 3 year old daughter and almost 5 month old son. They are our everything and our lives greatest blessing ๐ we are now done having biological children but hope to add another blessing to our family via adoption.
My greatest accomplishment was having our daughter and I had a heart transplant last year.
