We filmed this video last year, but I was just looking through my “Post to Blog” folder and realized that I never ended up sharing it with you all. The video is in response to a question about homeschooling. While it’s a year old, we would say the same things today, except for the comment about having no idea how to parent. Little Buddy was an infant last summer, and we had not yet entered the parenting stage, but we are in it now and are pleased to report that it’s going well.
Our readers have asked us to share the stories of our baptisms, so we made this video. We would love to hear about your baptism in the comments section.
A few months ago, we posted a vlog discussing our views on the subject of debt. We wanted to follow that up with a second video segment answering a related question from another reader: “What are your top three financial goals?” Go ahead and watch this vlog, and then share your response to the question in the comments section.
For all the parents out there, what do you think are the greatest challenges in parenthood? I came across this video that we filmed when Little Buddy was six months old and thought I would share it with you. Six months was an especially difficult time for us because Little Buddy was in a sleep regression, but honestly, even though he sleeps through the night most nights at this point, life with a young child is never easy.
In the video, Mr. Handsome and I each share what we consider to be the most challenging aspects of parenthood. Feel free to give your opinions in the comments section. And if you’re wondering why Mr. H is making such a weird facial expression in the thumbnail, you’ll have to watch the video to find out.
Happy Friday! Today (or any day that you are reading this post), Mr. Handsome and I are discussing our greatest accomplishments. One of our readers asked us this question, so we thought we would tackle it in a video. And we would love to hear from you in the comments section. What are your greatest accomplishments? Any type of accomplishment is fair game. Perhaps you have won the Nobel Peace Prize, or maybe the thing that comes to mind is something a little less intense, like what we mentioned. No feat is too small (or too large).
If I had to list another one, I would say hiking to the top of the Big Beehive at Lake Louise, during our trip to the Canadian Rockies two years ago (see photo above). By the time we made it back to our car, we had hiked 8.6 miles and gained an elevation of 1,770 feet.
When Calls the Heart is off the air until 2020, and I’m missing my favorite frontier soap opera. Hallmark recently announced that there will be a Christmas special, but Christmas is still more than four months away. (Little Buddy will be just days away from his first birthday at that point–how is that possible?) I have had brief discussions with a few readers about When Calls the Heart in the past and was pleasantly surprised to find that quite a few of you enjoy the show as much as I do.
Mr. Handsome and I made a short video (embedded below) discussing our favorite characters. Do you have a favorite character? And in case you hadn’t heard the good news, a spinoff series, When Hope Calls, is slated to premiere August 30th. The series will be set in Brookfield, a 1916 town similar to Hope Valley, and will tell the story of Lillian and Grace, sisters who were introduced in the 2018 When Calls the Heart Christmas movie, and their orphanage. I can hardly wait to tell Mr. Handsome that we will have yet another Hallmark series to watch together! He will be so thrilled….
“I do have the habit of…whenever I’m done with something, I just drop it. I’m working on trying to drop it in a place it should be.” -Mr. Handsome
On my Ask Ellie 3.0 post, someone asked Mr. Handsome and me to reveal our bad habits. We had a good chuckle over the question and decided to share our answers. We hope this video provides some entertainment as you head into the weekend. And if you would like to share your bad habits, feel free to do so in the comments section.
Mr. Handsome couldn’t think of any of my bad habits on the spot, but I assure you that I do have plenty. One that he will agree wholeheartedly with is that I am terrible at being on time. I can make it to medical appointments and other extremely important things, but I’m usually about 10 minutes late to everything else. I’m working on it though! Can anyone else relate?
When I asked readers to submit questions on my Ask Ellie 3.0 post, a handful of you asked about vaccinations and whether we plan to have our son vaccinated, and that wasn’t the first time that we received that inquiry. It’s a bit of a hot button issue, but Mr. Handsome and I decided to tackle it in a video blog (posted below).
“You know you’ve really made it when you have haters and critics.” (Mr. Handsome)
Later this month, I will celebrate my 10-year blogging anniversary. My blogging journey started in June 2009 with a simple summer recipe blog, and while that website is no longer live, I now have three additional blogs that are going strong. As a blogger, I receive my fair share of negative comments and emails. Some are kind, respectful, and helpful, but others are not.
A little while ago, some close friends sent us the link to a forum containing about 20 negative comments from folks who dislike Nashville Wife. Mr. Handsome and I got a kick out of these comments (they honestly made us laugh out loud), and because they are not inappropriate, we thought we would share a few of them with you (video below). We both agree that it’s important not to take ourselves so seriously that we can’t laugh at ourselves.
Since you are are an avid money saver, is there anything you think is worth splurging on or that you don’t feel as bad to spend a lot of money on?
Mr. Handsome and I had some good laughs over this question. It also lead to a discussion about our favorite flavor of ice cream. He thinks mine is ridiculous. Watch our video, and then tell us in the comments section what you allow yourself to splurge on and what your favorite flavor of ice cream is.
