The Beach With Two Kids Means Everyone is Covered in Sand

July 27, 2023 by 6 Comments

From Mr. Handsome:

Both our boys love their little sandbox at home. When we went on our annual beach vacation this spring and they realized that the beach was one giant sandbox, they thought they were in heaven. Who knew you could dig in the sand, roll in the sand, bury feet in the sand, pour sand in your hair, and even try to eat sand?

Sand is excellent for tracking into the rental condo. It really sticks to everything. It is resistant to being sprayed with a hose. It even stays in your hair after a shower. Not to mention that it’s great for climbing into Mommy and Daddy’s bed and leaving a thin film on their sheets.

Hurray for sand!

Ellie did find a great hack for getting sand off of hands and feet. Just keep a container of baby powder (we bought talc-free cornstarch baby powder) in your beach bag, and rub some on your skin when you need to be sand-free. It’s a great trick, but it doesn’t take care of all the sand by any means.

Eww, I can’t stand the new non-talc cornstarch powder. It doesn’t work and it only makes you gluey. I feel as if I’m coating myself like a chicken cutlet getting ready for frying. I’m glad I stocked up on talc baby powder before it all disappeared.

It’s a shame manufacturers got so spooked after the J&J lawsuits. The American Cancer Society has said there isn’t a clear link between OTC talcum powder and cancer, but the verdicts and awards scared powder makers into switching.

I learned this hack a few years ago and each time we go to the beach, it’s in my beach bag as well! Works wonders! Now for an item to get all the sand out of the car- haha!

I’m allergic to underarm deodorant, it makes my underarm itch. I take 1/2cup of baking soda and 1/2cup of corn starch mix it together in a plastic bottle. Love it, no more itching.

Oh I love those memories. I wish my daughters were little again. I miss those beach days!
