Our Baby is a…

September 18, 2018 by 137 Comments

Ever since we announced our pregnancy, our blog readers (and our family and friends) have been eager to find out the gender of our baby. We didn’t do a gender reveal party, but we did have a small gathering with a few family members. It’s a bit of a funny story that I’ll share later this week. Until then, the secret is inside this decadent chocolate cake! Will our new addition be a he or a she? Watch the video below to find out.

Congrats on the little boy! They are amazing (I’m a little bias cause i have a son). For names I went with family names, and don’t over look old fashion names. Anthony Louis (my boys name) is consider old fashion but it means alot to me. You will know the right name when you hear it.

Congrats! My guess was a boy because of how sick you said you were. Maybe it is because I just recently had a boy and was so sick with him. We waited till after he was born to choose his name. We had not done that with our 2 girls, so something different. Highly suggestion you have it narrowed down to a few though. I like the names Hudson and Levi

I’ve always liked the names-Dallas, Silas, and Ross. (Oh my just realized they all end in s!) but anyway, my nephew is named Riley-another suggestion. On another note, the setting you was in on the video looked wonderfully lovely! On a deck shaded by all those trees. Loved it! Made me wonder if this was at your house. And oh my you had to show us that moist, decadent, chocolatey cake. I just wanted to take (more like-grab! Lol) that plate from you! Anyway, have fun choosing a name!

It really depends on how the first flows with the last name. Also make sure that the full name doesn’t lead to any embarrassing acronyms.

I don’t have any children, but I’ve always loved the name Joseph for a boy. That was my grandfather’s name (although his was spelled Josef, as he was from in Austria). If you aren’t familiar with it already, there is a website called Behind the Name, which has pretty much every name from around the world and the meaning/origin of it listed there. You can search for names that have a particular meaning, or see how popular/common certain names are. Maybe that would be helpful in your search for a name. Good luck to you both!

Congratulations! I was wondering what you were having. We just found out we are having another boy as well. So we have one girl and five boys. For our gender reveal, I made cupcakes and put homemade whipped cream inside of the color and my children really enjoyed that.
Boys are full of energy and seem to rarely sit still. What an awesome responsibility raising the next generation of young men for God. It’s not an easy task, trust me, but it’s a wonderful adventure.
I hope you are feeling better now and enjoying this stage of pregnancy.

Yes my daughter is the oldest. Which is good since she’s the only girl. She’s 8. Her and the oldest boy are 14 months apart. He is almost 7. They are all really close, which I love but it can be hard at times, they are all less than two years apart.

That’s similar to my husband’s family. Five of them are very close in age, which was difficult for my mother-in-law when they were all little, but now they are good friends and glad to have each other. I don’t think I’m up for that, though. You must be a saint. πŸ™‚

All children should play with building blocks. It helps to develop hand/eye coordination.

Yay!! Congratulations Ellie!! Though I’m sure whether boy or girl you would have been equally overjoyed!!
If we have a boy, we like both Tobias “Toby” or Kolbe with a middle name of Joseph. Nathaniel is also nice! I’m sure the perfect name will come to your mind! God bless!

Have you checked out nymbler.com yet? It suggests names similar in style to names you suggest. It’s helpful and fun. The social security administration publishes a “beyond the top 1000” list that includes all names given to at least 5 babies if you’re really hurting for ideas or if popularity of a name is important to you.

Congrats on your little son! So excited for you! I’ve always liked Tyler and Jason for boys names. If you wanted you could always look at the Bible for names: Joshua, Jacob, David, Noah, Adam, Moses, Aaron, Nathaniel, Joseph, Luke, James, John, and so on.

I named my son Ryan Matthew and apparently the pain medication that they gave me because I ripped and had to get stitches caused me to forget what his name would be and I proceeded to tell everyone that I named him Matthew Mark Luke. So I forgot my babies name but did remember the books of the New Testament. Lol. But the medication wore off and I corrected his name I was telling people.

I don’t have any particular name suggestions, but if you are having trouble choosing between a few, yell it out the back door like you are calling him in for dinner. Somehow hearing it louder and prouder helps to cement a name or take it off a list! πŸ˜‰ Congrats and best wishes!!

We always look for names starting with H – my daughters Hannah and Helen are the fifth generation in our family starting with H.
    So I suggest
    Harold
    Hugo
    Henry
    Holden
    Huey

    Kind regards,

Yes, many H-names from my great-grandfather Heinrich over my grandfather Helmut and my father Holger (and his brothers Helmut and Harald) to me, Hella (and my sisters Helge and Henriette), and my daughters Hannah and Helen and my nephew Hugo. πŸ˜‰

I’m so excited you are having a boy! I have two boys as well. Boys are so much fun, very active, and very lovable. My boys are 1 1/2 years apart and are great friends most of the time. Boys are easier to handle as they get older, mine are 11 and 13. We named our oldest son Harrison (I don’t think anyone else suggested it yet), and our youngest is Ryan. Good luck through the rest of your pregnancy and prayers for a safe delivery!

Congratulations, Ellie! Boys are so much fun πŸ™‚ We have three girls and a boy. I love going to Nameberry.com to look at name options. Our son’s name is Malachi and yes, people periodically mispronounce it lol!
Some other names that come to mind are: Thane, Kade, Justus, Ezra, Knox, Silas and Cyrus. You’ll know the right one when you hear it. It just “clicks”!

    Many Blessings!
