Another TV Segment: Fall Travel

September 29, 2017 by 14 Comments

In August, I was invited up to Bowling Green, Kentucky, to chat about saving money on back-to-school supplies on WBKO, the ABC-affiliated television station for South Central Kentucky. (Click here to watch the segment.)

This week, WBKO and TopCashback invited me back on WBKO Midday to chat about saving money on fall travel. I hadn’t done much traveling in autumn until last year, when Mr. Handsome and I took a cruise to Mexico in November, but we were thrilled to find thinner crowds and cheaper prices. The cost of the cruise itself was much lower than we had expected. Fall really is a great time to get away!

Hope you enjoy the segment (embedded below). Even if you don’t plan to take a vacation this fall, the money saving tips can apply to travel in any season.

That safe is ridiculous. Nothing stopping someone from taking whatever it's locked to. In fact, it would be an advertisement that there are valuables in there.

Ellie, you did a nice job, but I have to agree with the above post about the safe being ridiculous. Years ago, I worked as a cashier in a convenience store and was attacked and left for dead. The thief couldn't open the cash register, so he took it with him. Same thing could happen with that safe. Pick the whole thing up and go.

Thank you. So sorry to hear that! Must have been terribly frightening. I didn't choose the products, but I'm sure there is a time and a place where the safe would be useful. I do agree that there would be some circumstances where it wouldn't make sense. šŸ™‚

I wouldn't trust that safe at all. It screams here is something to steal! You can pick a 3-digit combo lock like that in minutes. I see they also have a flexible version of the safe that's "slash-resistant" nylon. Notice not slash-proof. Don't substitute a false sense of safety for common sense.

You should put the bed bugs into the safe and let the theif take that. Meanwhile your real valuables could be somewhwere else. That was an interesting video and it was honest about some of the difficulties of travelling. Good to consider solutions to these things ahead of time. Thanks for sharing and hope to see more of your vlogs and public presentations in the future.
