NYC Themed Art

June 18, 2019 by 27 Comments

Brooklyn Bridge painting

On Saturday, I told you all that we had just sent a bunch of Mr. Handsome’s paintings to a venue in New York City. Several of you asked to see the paintings that we sent. Below are pictures of the New York City themed art that my husband created with the venue in mind. We also sent a variety of other paintings, including musical instruments, a cow, and a few abstracts.

My favorite is the one at the top of the Brooklyn Bridge. If you enjoy history as much as I do, you have probably seen old photos of the bridge. I suggested that my husband create a painting that looks like a vintage photograph, and I think he accomplished that beautifully. The second painting is of the full Manhattan skyline, with the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge on either ends. The third painting is the Empire State Building, and the fourth is a smaller skyline with the bridge.

I really like your New York paintings Mr H. They are bold, strong, unique and original. They certainly evoke a lot of emotion for me using the black and white, or sepia effect. I like the reflections in the statue of liberty as well. I see New York in a whole new way. Thank you for sharing these. Really well done. Eileen

Mr H. has done an admirable set of NYC paintings. It’s interesting that you’ve given some background story too. It also sets us up to want a sequel to these blogs. Please let us know how this goes. I’m guessing the pictures will sell well. Imagine them on a wall with some greenery near by. They would also look cool behind a towering orchid that is in bloom.

Oh my goodness! These paintings are remarkable. The contrasts of light and dark capture a particular essence of New York. The sepia adds a vintage vibe that reminds me of the days when so many immigrants passed through Ellis Island and came to call New York home. The painting of the skyline with Lady Liberty would be awesome alongside portraits of a familyโ€™s relatives who immigrated into American. My favorite is the Brooklyn Bridge too. The perspective draws you in. Your husband has a gift. Good for him to use it and thank you for letting us be part of the process. Are you going to NY to see them displayed? If so, would you take a picture of that for us?

Thank you, Barb! He is touched by your comment. And that was exactly the feel he was going for, the vintage vibe. We would really like to go to NY to see the display. If we do, we will certainly take photos.

      Have a lovely day,

Thanks for sharing the paintings with us, Ellie and Mr. H.

My favorite was the New York skyline. Seeing the One World Trade Center gives me a feeling of hope even when we have to rebuild.

Mr H and you could do a black t shirt series with different city skylines, and advertised on your blogs!
Do you think his skylines could go on a mans t shirt? What does Mr H. think of that idea? Would he wear that?

An idea I’ve had is that making patches that could go over those yucky things on t shirts and jackets (such as ‘Ace Electrics’ Ron, for example), that way good clothing could still be used by another person. If some of these pictures were made smaller and into patches that might look good. You don’t have to post this.

They are different, but I like them. I think it is the color that makes them special. My favorites are 2 and 4 of the New York skylines but the Empire State building is pretty cool too. Hope he gets a good price for them all.
