Hi blog readers! In celebration of the nine-year anniversary of Nashville Wife, I want to take a few minutes to share something with you that is very important to me. That is my faith in Jesus. My testimony in a nutshell is that I began following the Lord in my later elementary years. When I was in 4th grade, my family started going to church, and it was there that I began to understand what it means to live my life for Jesus.
I am eternally grateful to the church’s children’s ministry director, youth pastors, and volunteers who loved Jesus and loved kids. They were dedicated to following God, and they showed it with their selfless service to the kids in our church and the volunteer work that they led us in outside the church walls.
The Bible tells us that a relationship with Jesus gives us a peace that transcends all understanding, and that is something that everyone can experience. God invites anyone to call on the name of the Lord and accept His free gift of salvation. It doesn’t matter what kind of past a person has or even if he or she has committed murder. The Bible says that if we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved (Romans 10:9).
We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, and we deserve eternal punishment and separation from God in hell. But God made a way for us to have a relationship with Him by sending his Son, Jesus, to take our punishment by dying on the cross. That allows us to live in communion with God here on Earth and to spend eternity with Him in heaven.
I am not a perfect person. I still sin and fall short of God’s standard every single day, and because of that, I am reminded daily of my need for Jesus and how grateful I am for His sacrifice on the cross. His blood covers my sins.
I understand that some of you may have been hurt by people claiming to be Christians and that the idea of church and Christianity might give you a bad taste. Let me be the first to tell you that I am deeply sorry for your pain. There are people out there who say they follow Jesus but don’t. Living for God means loving others as we love ourselves, so anyone who hurts people does not understand what it means to be a Christian. The Bible tells us that people who genuinely follow Jesus will show it with their actions and the fruit of their lives.
If you have no interest in a relationship with Jesus, then feel free to disregard this post. But if you have any questions or would like to learn more, feel free to leave a comment or send me an email. I will not begin to pretend that I have all the answers, but God does, and He promises to answer us if we call on Him.
Thank you Ellie for sharing your testimony. I too am grateful for Jesus and what He did for me. I don’t know what I would do without my faith.
I’m also grateful for my Bible and the rich truths within its pages. I enjoy studying all the golden nuggets I read.
Thank you again.
God is not real.
Thank you for your testimony. God bless you. Eileen
Believing in God is dumb.
I thank God that I’m “dumb”. Being “dumb” for believing in Him has brought me so much peace and comfort. Being “dumb” causes me to want to spend time outdoors enjoying God’s creation, appreciate a beautiful newborn baby who was knit together by God in its mother’s womb, and gives me a desire to spend time reading His Word.
Thank you God for me being dumb.
In my experience, SOME of the “christians” have been the worst hypocrites. I quit going to church. Can’t take anymore heartbreak of church splits, pastors quitting, etc. etc. Enough is enough. There’s still a small part of me that wants to find a good church, but I just don’t want to make the effort.
I completely understand those feelings. People are broken, so churches can have complications. I still encourage you to try. Sometimes it takes some “shopping” around to find one that you like, that has a good group of people in your stage of life, etc.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful testimony.
Very well said
Thank you for sharing how you came to be a Christian. I think your post was well written. I know why you told people that don’t agree they can feel free to disregard your post. However freedom is for freely choosing, because that is how people were created by God. We were created with freedom to choose so that the relationship with God is a freewill real choosing. (There is a place where God cannot be and that is a human heart that rejects God willingly, BUT
That is a terrible state to be in. That is the state called Hell.)
Everyone should feel free. But to encourage someone to feel free to reject the loving Saviour Jesus is not quite in line with gospel teaching. Encourage and implore people to get on board with what is true and right and good, the salvation of God.
Jesus is the way, the truth, the life, no one comes to the Father but by the door of Jesus.
People should repent of rejecting Jesus. People should be WARNED there is no other way of salvation. Jesus is waiting to be received into every heart โฅ as you described.
Amen!โค๐๐พ
Thank you Ellie, for sharing your testimony, it was such a blessing to read.
Love and Blessings
To you and your family.

Thanks for sharing your testimony! Would love to hear how your parents got saved (I assume it was as adults since they didn’t start going to church until you were in 4th grade), if you don’t think they’d mind that being shared. ๐
No perfect church, No perfect family, No perfect people but we have a perfect God. Amen
Why do so many people believe a book from thousands of years ago, with no proof of God or Jesus’s existence? If God exists, why hasn’t he revealed himself to me or told me explicitly what he wants? I’d rather just do my best to be a good person and not worry about whether or not I am pleasing a man who does not communicate with me or if he does, he does not communicate very well.
Could I also congratulate you on the blogโs 9 year anniversary. I have enjoyed it very much. Eileen
Thank you, Eileen!
I was also thinking back to the beginning of your blog, and I think you and Mr H must be married 9 years as well! If so congrats and many more anniversaries to come! Eileen

Hi, Ellie. Could you tell us how old your children are?
Hi! They are 5, 2, and infant. ๐
Dear Elly,
you wrote “We are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, and we deserve eternal punishment and separation from God in hell.”
Why are we all sinners who deserve to be in hell? I understand that we are not perfect, we make mistakes. So in that sense we are sinners. But if you do your best to live a good life, then why would you still deserve to be in hell?
Best wishes, Suzanne from Holland
