Mr. Handsome and I would like to wish our American readers a very happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for God, family, friends, freedom, and each and every one of you.
As I write this, Little Buddy is in his bed napping, and Mr. Handsome is in the kitchen peeling potatoes. It won’t be long before our guests start to arrive. What are all of you doing to get ready for your Thanksgiving meal?
Marilyn
We always make our maternal grandmother’s stuffing recipe.
We are thankful for your blog, Ellie. Wishing you and yours a blessed happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, Ellie, Mr. Handsome and Little Buddy. Ellie, your blogs are a blessing! I’m peeling 5 pound of potatoes and my hubby is making the green bean casserole. Every year we host Thanksgiving, there be 9 at our table.
Ellie
Thank you! Hope you had a wonderful celebration.

Hi Ellie and Mr H! Happy Thanksgiving to you a bit late…but yes, we were invited to a friends place (2 families were) so we all brought food together. I took broccoli and cauliflower salad (the kind that has bacon, purple onion, sunflower seeds, and craisens, and a mayo based dressing), a green bean casserole, roasted squash with seasonings, and iced tea. And the others filled in with turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, graham cracker fluff, and pies. Something different we tried this year was mixing in sweet potatoes into the regular potatoes for mashed potatoes. Talk about so so GOOD!!! You take 1/3 sweet potatoes to 2/3 reg potatoes and cook together (maybe they cooked them separate! Idk, I didn’t ask…) and then mash them together with cream and butter. You wouldn’t even need gravy. They are wonderful by themselves! Did you have family come out for thanksgiving or just friends over?
Ellie
Sounds like a great time! I have mixed regular potatoes and sweet potatoes on my own plate, so that’s a good idea to do it as a dish. We had mostly family but some friends. It was a wonderful day.

I’m late commenting. Your turkey looks so yummy. We had a friend over for Thanksgiving. We were concerned she wouldn’t be able to come because we were under a winter storm warning. We didn’t get the snow until later that night. We never get snow on Thanksgiving!
Ellie
Wow, that’s early for snow. Glad she was able to come!
