Hello, blog readers! It has been a few months since my last post. Life has been busy, and it has been hard for me to find time to sit down and blog, but I want to give you all an update on our family.
Little Buddy is six years old and has matured in leaps and bounds over the past several months. He is eager (most of the time) to help me around the house, and he even enjoys doing things for his younger siblings (often without me asking him). He is full of energy and always has been, but he has just recently gotten to the point of being able to sit down with a chapter book and read independently for a short period of time. He and Littlest Buddy are great friends and spend a lot of time playing together. Sometimes things get rough, as is expected with young boys, but for the most part they are kind to each other. I love watching them become best friends.
Littlest Buddy is three years old. He is very perceptive and takes everything in. While we are driving, he will frequently point out places we have been, even if it was a few months ago. And he sometimes even tells me the correct direction to turn when we are going familiar places. His “baby voice” is slowly disappearing, and he has recently figured out how to pronounce more difficult sounds like “th.” He still uses a few of his “baby” words, such as “mook” for milk, and it makes me smile every time because I know it won’t last long. When mook becomes milk, I think both Mr. Handsome and I will cry.
Little Lady is one, and she is enjoying her newfound freedom that comes with being able to walk. Her greatest desires are to get into the bathroom and climb the stairs, so much so that if she is across the room and she sees that the bathroom door or the gate blocking the stairs is open, she bolts over. When we close it, she lets out a scream. She can say a few words, like “mama,” “dada,” “moe” for more, and “nun” for done.” The other day, she was running around holding two of her brother’s Beanie Babies, and she put them in her dollhouse. I said, “Can I please have Brother’s monkeys,” and she grabbed them and handed them to me. We have enjoyed watching her interact with her brothers.
How have all of you been doing?
You have been missed.
Thank you, Cynthia! That’s very kind of you to say. How are you doing?
Its so good to hear from you Ellie. I’m glad to hear the updates on your children.
I’ve been doing a lot of book reading which is one of my favorite things to do. I’m getting into acrylic painting which is a new craft for me. A couple of weeks ago I took a workshop where we painted on old vinyl records. That was fun because I’m not artistic at all. I’m getting back to crocheting. I have arthritis and hand tremors so I hadn’t been crocheting for awhile and I had been missing it.
I think that’s about it. Hope you get to blog more. I’m the same way with my own blog. I have a hard time finding time.
Hi Regina! I’m sorry to hear you have arthritis and hand tremors, but I’m glad to hear you have been able to get back to crocheting. And exciting that you are doing acrylic painting. What kinds of scenes do you hope to paint?
I miss the ocean so maybe a beach scene. We haven’t had much in the way of snow here and its been very dry and I’m thinking some snow capped mountains and trees might be fun to paint. I’m trying to get some ideas from Pinterest.
Happy to hear an update!
I definitely have missed your posts as well! Glad to hear everyone is keeping well.
Oh goodness, reading your post brings me back to when my boys were that age! We just celebrated by oldest’s 22nd birthday and my youngest is 8; I miss those littles! It’s funny, but I always think of you when we make our bi-annual trip out to Destin and drive through Nashville – so I thought I’d check for a new post, and there you were! Enjoy these sweet days with your young family!
Oh how i can relate to the baby loving the stairs and bathroom! My twins just love to venture together up the stairs and also will go right for the toilet lately ๐๐คฆ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ฌ
Thanks for the update Ellie! Sounds like youโre enjoying life with three little kids, itโs so much work but such a blessing at the same time. My twins are 13 months now and very much into all sorts of mischief together. Itโs both cute and daunting lol!
Happy 2025 Ellie and family. A blessed year to you all. It was very nice to find this post and hear an update on your family.
My husband and I have found that 2025 is about all things family. He and extended family members are creating a book about their family history with facts, pictures and anecdotes.
I am busy with a picture collection for our grandchildren.
It has been fun and interesting to do these projects. I have also found more history regarding my parents immigration inc records in Michigan held there in church records! I hope you post again sometime Ellie. I always enjoy hearing from you in these blogs. I am happy for you that life is good, the children are well and thriving.
Yay! Glad you’re doing well with your family. I know, 3 kids can make you very busy. The relationship I was in, I had to end. I have learned a lot about that, and red flags, and the Duggar sisters Jinger and Jill; their books have been very therapeutic. Thankful for family connections that have been renewed after the pandemic, even though it came with a number of deaths. Including my dear mother-in-law. And going on a trip to a US state I have never been to, because one of my siblings moved there. Life is up and down, but God is good.
Have a wonderful summer season Ellie, Mr. H and children.
You are still missed Ellie.
Thank you, Eileen! I plan to sit down this week to write a post. Hope you are doing well.
We are, thanks! Look forward to an update from you.
Nice picture of Mr. H and Littlest Buddy. Have you, Mr. H and your children been any place exciting this year?
Hi Jane. Thank you! We haven’t done much traveling this year. Just a weekend in Gatlinburg, TN, with extended family. How about you?
My husband and I are in our early 70’s. We don’t feel comfortable driving long distance, now we stay close to home.๐
I really miss your blogs. I guess those little kids are keeping you very busy!
I have three kids. In a blink of an eye they all grew up! My youngest just turned 26. It was hard when they were young, but I miss it so much!
Thank you for your note, Amy. It’s always a good reminder when seasoned moms tell me, “I know it’s hard, but you’ll miss it one day.” ๐ How is life with adult children? Do you feel like you’re in a new season of having more of a friendship with your kids?
