Getting Crafty…Wedding Card Box

September 19, 2015 by 9 Comments

Between my mom, mother-in-law, and five sisters-in-law, as well as various aunts, grandmas, and cousins, I was blessed to have a lot of eager helpers during the wedding planning process. As I mentioned in a previous post, I wasn’t too particular about the majority of the details (see “Wedding Planning: A Family Affair”), so I let these ladies make a lot of the decorating decisions.

I did, however, want to add my own–and Mr. Handsome’s–decorative flavor to the wedding, so the two of us completed a few craft projects together. One of those projects was a card box.

The other ladies wanted to find a fancy bird cage to use as a card box, so we spent an entire morning browsing several stores, but we couldn’t find any that were less than $50 and large enough for our big wedding.

I came up with the idea of decorating a cardboard box, and my husband-to-be offered to help.

It’s hard to pass up free, especially if the card box is just going to sit on the gift table and be buried by presents. The project was also a great excuse to spend time with Mr. Handsome and get him involved in the planning process. What do you think of our work?

I made my own too, I used stickers for the word Cards, my mother in law made a bow, saved a lot of money and then made my cousins box for his wedding, I think the best part besides being cheaper they looked nicer and matched the decor better. It's a lot easier than people think, I had advice from a friend who does furniture covering which was very helpful in making it clean lined.

Very good idea! How many people attended your wedding?

Thank you! We invited around 500 and had nearly 300 attend.

      Blessings,

I love it! That is same color blue that we had in our wedding and its still one of my favorites. You definitely have a ton of creativity all over both of your families! We loved Jessa's baby question and can't wait for your post on how you met and are good friends now with all three TV families – I think that is just so cool!

Awesome that you did so much to personalize your wedding and to keep cost down. Love that family was so involved putting your beautiful wedding together. My in-laws were also a very large part of putting my wedding together it bonded us and I cherish those memories.

It looks very rustic. Good for a rustic wedding. If you like crafting then you should check out Pinterest, Etsy, and DIY Crafts on YouTube.
