Cheekwood Pumpkin Houses

November 29, 2022 by 3 Comments

First off: To all of my American readers, how was your Thanksgiving?

One of my favorite places in the Nashville area is Cheekwood, a beautiful outdoor garden and historic mansion. They have wonderful programs for kids, classes for adults, and seasonal displays. A few weeks ago, we made our annual trek to the Cheekwood pumpkin festival, featuring their famous pumpkin houses.

I have a friend whose oldest child is the same age as Little Buddy (only days apart), and this was my third year going with her. (I suppose it’s officially a tradition now!) Of course the kids loved the pumpkins the most, but I was especially intrigued by the white mums. Have you ever seen white mums? I hadn’t.

Love mums also. Very easy to grow. I have several large terracotta pots with just mums. I have mums planted in flower beds as well. Something great about mums is when the flowers are spent cut the stalks to the ground and they will come back. I’ve had my plants for years. It should be noted that I live in Northern California. No snow but this morning it is 39 degrees.
