Abstract Art with Ellie and Mr. H

November 25, 2018 by 22 Comments

Mr. Handsome has been experimenting with abstract art this fall, as different art shows have different clientele with different tastes. Last week, we spent a few late nights in his “studio” creating paintings together as a couple. (His studio is a tiny room off our garage that is devoted to his painting endeavors. It has been very handy because in our previous apartments, he has had to paint in our living room or kitchen.)

The couples painting sessions were a blast. I held a hairdryer, while Mr. Handsome dripped acrylic paint in front of the airflow to create splatters.

What do you think of our works of art? Mr. Handsome had the initial inspiration for each painting, but we put our heads together to flesh out those ideas.

Hmmm, I’m not sure about abstract…I like to see a picture than try to guess and guess what it is 🤔 so I’m not big on it at all. I probably would pick the sunset one as I at least can make that out! But I can understand that we all have different tastes. I still think back to his fall impressionistic painting. I would probably like Impressionism a little more above abstract. Mr H hit it right on with that fall painting. More defined not so vague like a lot of paintings are. I still like it. Will he be doing more Impressionism?

I love the fall painting, as well, Candi. He says he plans on doing other similar paintings. He just finished up a couple commissioned paintings of someonoe’s pet dogs, and they are adorable.

Not a fan of abstract art, but I do like the top painting. Do you and Mr. Handsome like and read about other artists? Check out Akiane Kramarik and read her background story. She is AMAZING to me.

Seriously, very dark, sad and disturbing. What’s wrong with you sick hearted people?

I think it’s great to experiment with different styles and it sounds like a blast to do it as a couple!
Claude Monet is my favorite painter and an interesting fact is that he never used the color black in his paintings. He was able to convey darkness and shadows with all the other colors of the rainbow, truly amazing! I’d be curious to see what your abstract works would look like without any black.

I like Monet, as well, Anne. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts had an entire room of Monets, and we really enjoyed viewing them. Apparently the museum has had them since Monet was alive, which is neat.
