A Very Special Wedding Gift

November 12, 2016 by 31 Comments

I posted pictures from the adventure-themed wedding shower we threw for my brother and his fiance, as well as snapshots from their Oregon coast wedding, but did I show you the wedding present we gave them? It’s a painting by Mr. Handsome, and it shows a view of the ocean from a place called Road’s End, which is near the wedding venue. He also added a wedding chapel in the foreground. What do you think?

I’ve been away from the computer quite a bit this week and might not be able to moderate comments immediately, but don’t let that stop you from submitting them. I love to hear from y’all, and I’ll get to the comments ASAP. ๐Ÿ™‚

Beautiful! What were their reactions? Are you sure Mr. Handsome is a dentist and not a 21st century Picasso instead?

Thank you! They absolutely loved it.

Sometimes I wonder that myself! I actually prefer my husband's artwork over Picasso's, but I suppose I'm a little biased. Your compliment made Mr. handsome smile.

Hey! I think things like this are so lovely as gifts- especially for something as special as a wedding.
I know one of my favourite gifts from me and my husbands wedding was a cushion made by close family friends.

I love reading your blog- it is one of my favourites!

    Greetings from the UK!

      Hi LJ,

I totally agree. Homemade gifts are the best. So glad to hear you're enjoying my blog!

      Have a great week,
      Ellie

I love the blues he used in the painting.

I thought the same thing about the blues. Also there seems to be that glorious west coast sunlight in the picture. The chapel is a suitable wedding gift touch, and in many more ways meaningful too. The waves are done well, have too add.

That is really beautiful! Has he ever considered selling his paintings?

Thank you! He would consider selling them, not as much for the money, but more so more people can enjoy his artwork. We thought about setting up a booth at art fairs. He will have to get a good inventory going first though.

You could make prints ad cards too and get more mileage out of one picture that way, someone could own the original too.

Oh also you could put these onto blankets, curtains, mats, etc.

I think it's very nice that your husband took the time and effort to paint a picture for them personally. I'm sure they enjoyed it very much. Once again, thank you for sharing.

I'm an undergrad art student. Not a fan of post Impressionism. It's quite dated looking.

I like the frothy white on the blue ocean and the fluffy white in the blue sky.

Ellie you should do a proper English for writing blog as a learning site.

That's an interesting thought. You mean like an explanation of proper grammar technique?

Do you make these mistakes in English? Was a popular correspondence course catch phrase in the first half of the last century. It lost it's sales effect around the late forties. But people are still self conscious about their writing when they are unlearned of all the rules.

Just wondering, will you ever announce Mr. Handsome's name? Or maybe have people try to guess? Rumplestiltskin style? Haha! I think it's mysterious and cool as is but would love to know what it is โ˜บ If not, that's nice too. Just wondering โ˜บ
