Oh the dilemma of toddler socks! They are a surprisingly expensive necessity that can be quite a pain. Keeping track of them is such a chore, and they are constantly getting holes or being grown out of.
A short while ago, we were at a family wedding, and my sister-in-law asked if I had any extra white dress socks that her 24-month-old son could borrow. I am ashamed, and also amused, to report that that was the first time I had considered the possibility of buying dress socks for my toddler. I have always purchased colorful socks with fun patterns and characters, and that was what I was planning on having him wear for the wedding. His dress pants would cover them anyways. But apparently some parents are so put together that they buy dress socks for their two-year-olds. Who knew?
Little Buddy happened to need new socks a couple weeks ago, so I decided to strike a compromise and buy some that are in between. Not quite dress socks, but also not the bright colors that he currently has.
So what are your opinions on toddler socks?
And if you are looking for a way to keep track of your kids’ socks in the wash, I have a solution. Buy one of those mesh laundry bags that are made for delicate items. It should be one foot by one foot, or a little smaller, and it needs to have a zipper. Keep it in your kids’ laundry basket, and put the socks directly in the mesh bag, instead of loose in the basket. Using this method, I have only lost a few socks in Little Buddy’s lifetime. Without my handy mesh, bag, I would be losing socks left and right.

That is mesh bag is a good idea for not losing socks.
I have use clip that you stick on the socks put them in the washer &dryer. My mom fiund them some were online
I have mush bag and put bras in it, it has 6 shots to hold 6 bras in it.

I never bought dress socks for my girls when they were toddlers. I just bought cute socks that matched whatever they were wearing.

I liked this post, thanks for sharing!!

My plan as my toddlers socks are wearing out is to replace them with all one solid colour. One toddler will have grey and one will have black. With the kids slightly different sizes matching is a huge pain here!

I always like having both dress and casual socks for my tots 🙈 with my boys when babies I didn’t put shoes on them but their socks always seemed too colorful to wear with the outfit I had picked out and it would bother me so I would resort to no socks at all- I guess that’s mostly for babies that I’m thinking of though, but for 24+ months I actually did have plain black socks for church and such 😂🤣

I used to lose a lot of socks in the laundry! I always bought white socks for the boys, twins, so they could be bleached. One liked to go barefoot all the time and the other liked his socks and would wear them wrong side out. Still does, except when he’s at work. My girls liked mismatched socks. Still do.

That’s really cute! It’s neat to see how the preferences of little kids stay with them as they grow.

I always put solid black socks on my boys for church. Depends on how dressy you go to church though. Where we go, everyone wears suits and ties, so black socks look better with their little dressy outfits.

This is such a clever idea. Can we do this for adults too? LOL
With the twins being almost 5 month old and my oldest son is 8 year old . There is so much to keep up with.

I just buy cool and fun socks and then I don’t worry if they don’t match… I don’t have time to match up socks

I did the math once: with a family of five, if everybody uses one pair of socks per day, it’s 70 individual socks per week.
No wonder why our laundry basket is so full of socks all the time:)
My hack is to always buy several identical pairs of socks, even those cute colorful ones. Better chance of finding a matching pair, works even if one sock gets lost or gets a hole.
