In Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, there is a restaurant called Stinky‘s, which serves Cajun style seafood. We have attempted to eat there multiple times, but the wait has always been one to two hours. It’s a very popular restaurant! This time, we were able to get a table by arriving at 4:30 on a Monday. Not a great time for most people to eat dinner, but it works pretty well when you have a toddler who goes to bed early.
Stinky‘s has a lot of unique seafood options, but the one that stuck out to Mr. Handsome was crawfish pie. He was in the mood to try something new, so he ordered it and found it to be delicious. Even I took a bite and liked it, although it was definitely on the spicy side for me.
For my meal, I went with a safer option–grilled grouper with potatoes sautéed in garlic. Little buddy had fried catfish, which he loved.
After dinner, we walked out on the pier behind the restaurant. In the brackish water, we saw a bunch of turtles, both soft shell and hard shell. Little Buddy enjoyed watching some other kids feed them.
Are any of you blog readers brave enough to try crawfish pie?
Stay tuned for our big announcement, coming Friday at 7pm Central.

Sure. It’s just a smaller lobster. Which I’ve eaten, along with frog legs and eel and other stuff people might cringe at.
Ellie
How did eel taste?

I’ve had smoked eel. It’s a German tradition at Christmas. It tastes like any other smoked, oily fish, like sardines or herring. It’s good.
Eileen
I’m not! What was in it?
Ellie
Vegetables, spices, broth, and crawfish tails. Haha

You shouldn’t eat your brother no matter how much he bothers you.
Ellie
Oops! Should have been broth. Thanks for catching that!

Never had crawfish pie before, but it looks good. I wouldn’t choose it over shrimp & oysters, though. I would probably like to find a recipe and make it at home.

I could try craw fish pie, but I would need to tell them I want it mild not spicy. I will be at my computer Friday at 7pm.

I wouldn’t try it, but only because I don’t like seafood! My husband would enjoy it, though. He loves spicy foods too.
Anne
That makes my mouth water. My husband and his family have convinced me how good fresh seafood at the beach is. 🙂 I love crawfish soup so I would definitely try crawfish pie.

I think I have eaten crawfish pie, as well as other crawfish dishes, since I live in Cajun country and have eaten lots of seafood.
