World Champion Hotdog Eater

June 1, 2022 by 11 Comments

First let me start by honoring those who have died in the service of our country. Their sacrifice does not go unnoticed, and it is vitally important to the health of our nation that we continue to remember that freedom has a heavy cost.

Over Memorial Day, I suspect that many of our American readers fired up the grill. Maybe you enjoyed a hotdog, or maybe you were so hungry that you downed two or three hotdogs. But did any of you consume 84 hotdogs in 10 minutes? If your name is Joey Chestnut, you could have.

Joey is the world champion hotdog eater. He trains like an athlete and has developed a technique for devouring hotdogs as quickly as possible. He does yoga to practice breathing and stretches his stomach by drinking lots of water and milk. He even runs to work on his endurance. During the summer, he gains about thirty pounds from all his eating competitions.

Mr. Handsome and I recently met Joey at a BBQ festival. Mr. Handsome was extremely excited to take a picture with him and get his autograph. I’m not quite sure what I think of the whole thing. Just the thought of someone eating all those hotdogs makes my stomach hurt. But apparently he has made millions just by eating hotdogs and winning championships. He even sells his own brand of ketchup. To each their own, I suppose.

Many of you know that Mr. Handsome is the man of a thousand hobbies, but let me just say right now that if he starts becoming interested in professional eating, I am going to strongly discourage it.

I personally don’t think I have ever eaten more than two hotdogs in one sitting, but I could probably eat three, maybe four, if I really pushed it. How many hotdogs do you think you could eat at one time?

With or without the bun? Without the bun I could maybe do 8. I haven’t had one on a bun in years.

I just can’t help but think it will catch up to him one day, but I hope not. 2 hot dogs is my limit.

I am right there with you Ellie. Two Hot dogs is about my limit. 😀 My family says that there is an adult portion, a child size portion, and then my size portion. I have never been able to eat much at one time. I do love to cook lots of food and see my family enjoy it that makes me happy.

Haha! You must be very healthy if you’re good at limiting your portion sizes. 🙂 I struggle with that for some things. Lol

Honestly I probably do not eat as healthy as I should. I just have a very tiny tummy 🤣

Good for Joey! I watched him once and that was enough for me.

I could eat two if the brand was a good one like Nathan’s or Ball Park.

You need protein lots of protein. I would eat 2 hotdog.. I don’t grill my hotdogs. I put my hotdogs in the george foreman . It gets out the sodium of the dogs
