President Lincoln

An Attitude of Thankfulness

November 26, 2015 by 9 Comments

On October 3rd, 1863, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln declared a nationwide day of thanks, to take place on November 26th, 1863. Although the United States was in the midst of the bloody Civil War, Lincoln encouraged the American people to take time to reflect on the many blessings given to them by God.

Happy Thanksgiving to my American readers! Here are a few Bible verses to help us all develop an attitude of thankfulness:

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods.
(Psalm 9:2-3)

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

(1 Chronicles 16:34)

“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
(Deuteronomy 8:18)

Every good gift and every
perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

(James 1:17)

 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be
anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
(Philippians 4:4-7)
