And now, a word from Mr. Handsome…
Recently, my sister Mae informed Ellie and I that having a child has turned us into boring adults and has taken us out of the young, hip, and cool category. I was so offended when she told me this, I almost spilled my prune juice.
This blog post is a response to that insult and will prove that we are still young and hip. To do that, I will describe a “hot” date Ellie and I recently had that will show those youngsters how “with it” we are.
We started this “hot” date in the most logical way: We turned up the thermostat. But as any responsible person knows, heat takes energy, and energy costs money, and we certainly don’t want to waste money. For our hot date we decided to splurge and turn the thermostat up from 68 degrees to 71. “Woah,” you say, “That hot date is getting a little crazy.” I know, but that’s just what young, hip couples do.
The next thing we did on our “hot” date was put on some warm, comfortable clothes. A lot of young couples like to put on skimpy clothes and go gallivanting out in public these days. But those skimpy clothes leave you very cold, and this is a hot date, so we chose some nice warm sweatpants, hoodies, and comfy socks. I know, this date is starting to turn into a scorcher.
The next step on this hot date was to drink some adult beverages. That’s what the cool people do these days right, go out and drink fancy beverages with exotic names. We chose Swiss Miss, a sweet choice that goes down smooth. It opens up nicely in the mug. I can already hear the critics claiming that hot chocolate is not an adult beverage. Well I would say it is. We certainly don’t give Little Buddy hot chocolate, so it’s for adults only. I tell you what, once you spray that whipped cream on the hot chocolate, the date starts getting very steamy.
The next step of our hot date was to watch a trendy new show on Amazon Prime. We chose The Andy Griffith Show. In this particular episode, Aunt Bee was really smoking up the kitchen cooking something delicious. Then we turned to Gilligan’s Island to throw a little tropical sun into the evening.
The final step was to go to bed early in our warm bed. On a cold night there is nothing better than curling up under the blankets and getting some extra sleep. And when Little Buddy is going to have us up at six in the morning, we really don’t have any other choice.
I suppose I should have given a parental warning before this post to protect young children from the sizzling details of our hot date. But at least everyone still knows we are young and hip.
