Living in Tennessee, we are not strangers to the sun. We didn’t have much of a spring, but based on the 90 degree temperatures that have appeared this week, it seems that summer has arrived. Whether we’re at home or playing at a local park, a good quality sun hat is a must.
Two years ago, I posted about the SwimZip sun hat. It has a wide brim and is made of quick dry material, making it a wonderful choice for wet or dry play. Since that time, I also received another hat from my mother as a gift. It’s the Baby Boys’ Flap Hat from i play. I love this hat because children can fully submerge in the pool while keeping their hat on. The flaps provide wonderful coverage for the head, neck, and eyes.
In the i play hat, Little Buddy has the 2T-4T size, and I just purchased the 9-18 months size for Littlest Buddy. They both have the Aqua Jungle pattern…I just love matching outfits! There’s a decent chance that Little Buddy will outgrow his by next year (big heads run in our family) so I’m going to soak up all the matchy matchy while I can.

“Living in Tennessee, we are not strangers to the sun.” What? A third of the states in the US get more average days of sun than Tennessee. You’re right up there with Wyoming.

I love the i Play hats! My oldest wore hers all the time but my youngest won’t keep a hat on for anything. Your boy’s are so cute in their matching hats!

Teaching your boys to wear a hat while in the sun is great! I made the mistake of not wearing a hat and very seldom did I apply sunscreen to my face because I thought hats didn’t look cool. I’ve had 4 places on my face that were basal cell ( Non-Melanoma) which were remove, I count myself lucky. I’m 69 and have been wearing big straw hats for quite some time. Ellie, you sound like a exceptional Mom.

I was thinking after the last post and this one, how science and technology change parenting. It is quite nice that children’s drawings and paintings can be saved so easily nowadays and how we know so much more about children’s development and also what preventative measures to take for different things. We did not have phones with cameras, or computers that could store and hold photo albums when we started having our children. Growing up, we never wore sunhats. Now, I wear a big one outside that contains UV protection. All these different and many more advances really have been positive steps for parenting. Your hats are just perfect for your boys! They are cute and functional. Protection with the flaps is really needed. If you are like our area, the sun is shining more days.
