Happy [almost] New Year! As 2019 comes to a close, we reflect on how much our lives have changed over the past 12 months.
We welcomed our sweet Little Buddy into the world and began the journey of parenthood–a trek that is impossible to describe in just one word. It has grown me, refined me, and brought to light all my selfish tendencies.
While we did less traveling than in years past, we enjoyed long weekends in Florida and New York City. We spent a lot of time with family and friends, and Mr. Handsome painted what I consider to be some of his best works of art yet. We grieved the loss of Mr. Handsome’s beloved grandfather and celebrated new life with the birth of Little Buddy’s younger cousin. Oh, and Mr. Handsome and I both became slightly addicted to coffee. Mr. H blames parenthood, but I like to think it’s solely based on taste. It’s. Just. So. Delicious.
I remember ringing in the new millennium 20 years ago…and the hysteria that was felt across the world as people wondered if something terrible would happen when the clock struck 12am on January 1, 2000. What were your experiences?
We have no idea what the next decade will bring, but we know that God will be with us through it all. When 2030 rolls around, Mr. Handsome will have known each other for almost 20 years. And we are hoping to have a few more little buddies in our life. My how time flies.
We are still deciding how we will ring in 2020. We were invited to a New Year’s party, but after all the busyness of Christmas, we might end up on the couch watching our favorite show on Amazon Prime. Any guesses as to what TV series we are currently watching?
Happy New Year to all our wonderful readers! With love from Ellie, Mr. Handsome, and Little Buddy.

Happy New Year Ellie, Mr. Handsome, and Little Buddy! Thank you for your wonderful blogs 🙂 My guess would be a Hallmark show…

I don’t know how we got to 2020 either because I remember turning the calendar to 2000 like it was yesterday.
I’m going to guess that you’re not watching “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” which is my family’s favorite show on Amazon Prime. The humor and the Jewish life references probably wouldn’t be your thing. But the show has won all sorts of awards and is brilliantly written, produced, and acted.

Wishing you and yours a Blessed,Happy and Healthy 2020.

I started drinking coffee after I had my baby, too! I thoroughly look forward to and enjoy ( and need if I’m being honest) a cup of black coffee.
I was 10 on January 1, 2000. I thought the power was going to go out. :p

Happy New Year, to the Handsome family! I do so enjoy your blogs. I want to be more like Jesus, so I have a list of things I need to work on this year.

Love your reflective thoughts, Ellie. I can’t believe time goes by so fast. As Little Buddy reaches a new milestone, you will look back and wonder where the time went. Enjoy each moment!
I remember building up to 2000 very well. I was a new minister. As the hysteria about Y2K grew, I just kept thinking about God’s goodness and telling people to trust in God who had orchestrated everything just fine up to that point. The God of 1999 was the same as the God of 2000. I was right.

I remember Y2K well too! I was almost 11 and had some of my good friends over for a sleepover. We had fallen asleep in the living room when there was a big accident in front of our house. My parents live on an S-curve that has a set of railroad tracks running through it. This individual (who was probably very intoxicated) missed the curve, got airborne going over the tracks, and slammed into a telephone pole. The pole moved 2 feet! The back end of the car was over the tracks. I remember my parents and neighbors calling 911 and the railroad to have them stop the train. The driver had to be removed from the car and they landed a life-flight helicopter in our front yard. I will NEVER forget that night!
Ellie
Yikes! Glad your parents were around to help. Did you ever hear if the driver was okay?
Kari
Happy New Year! As for Amazon Prime – is it Jack Ryan?
Ellie
Happy New Year, Kari! Mr. Handsome watches Jack Ryan, and I have seen some of it, but I find it to be a little too intense. I do like the complex plot though. Have you seen it?

Yes, I remember ringing in 2000. Late-hubby and I were dating and spent time with my family. We knew one of my siblings was getting married that year, and talking of marriage ourselves at the end of 2000. And we did get married the following December. As for Y2K, we’d talked of computers shutting down, and tests that had been done, but then laughed at them when we turned our computers on and everything was normal.
