Just Like Bob Ross

December 20, 2015 by 24 Comments

Yesterday was Mr. Handsome’s first day off (aside from Sundays) in three weeks, and he woke up at 7am! He had received a box of oil paint supplies as an early Christmas present from the staff at his dental practice and wanted to put it to use.My husband painted several pictures as a child, and he mentioned over the summer that he would enjoy picking that hobby back up. So when the office manager asked me for gift ideas, I spent a few hours researching painting supplies and then sent her Amazon links for the Bob Ross Painting Rural America kit and an easel.

(The office manager gave me the credit for doing all the grunt work to make the gift possible, so I ended up inadvertently scoring some wifey points!)

What do you think of Mr. Handsome’s first painting?

I think your Mr. Handsome has true talent and could even earn extra money selling them, helping to fundraise, or giving them as precious gifts. I'd certainly buy one!

Thanks, Maggie! Selling paintings for a fundraiser is a great idea. He is definitely planning to give them away to family and friends, as well as hang them in his dental office.

I love the painting, it's beautiful. I like paintings of scenaries. He could sale his paintings. Is there something your husband can't do? I think your husband is talented. I belive he has worked hard to get where he's at. Behind every good man is a good wife. God bless you both.

Thank you! You are very right; his talent is the result of hard work. He spent many hours doing artwork and practicing music as a kid. I just asked him if there's anything he can't do, and he said he's absolutely awful at bowling. πŸ™‚

      God bless you!

Thank you! He says he's terrible at bowling. As for cooking, he's not completely lost in the kitchen, but let's just say that if he were in charge of meals, we would be eating a lot of burgers, eggs, and bacon.

Wow, what a beautiful painting! Did Mr. Handsome paint that from his mind's eye, or from another picture or was it a live scene? Absolutely gorgeous and there is so much talent within him. Thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks, Canadian reader! He did this painting by watching a Bob Ross tutorial. Bob Ross goes through all the steps, but I have a feeling that if I tried it, my painting would look very different (and not in a good way!)

I'm blessed to have you as a reader. πŸ™‚

Maybe your husband could paint pictures for his staff next year for Christmas? I sure they would like a painting, in a nice frame, that they could hand on their walls.

That's a great idea. He will have to get started soon if he wants to paint pictures for all of them, but I think he might just do that!

      Merry Christmas. πŸ™‚
