Thank you Ellie and your husband too. Sorry I can’t call him Mr. Handsome because he is your husband and it should be reserved for you only.๐
It’s so good to know we serve a God who loves us no matter what we’ve done in the past. My dad was wonderful though he had his share of difficulties. He was strict but it was for our own good and because he was strict, I was saved from a lot of heartache on both our parts. He wasn’t my biological dad but he wanted me to have his last name when he married my mom. I’m grateful for the memories we shared.
Thanks for sharing your story, Regina. It sounds like you had a wonderful father. My heart breaks for those who never have a father or father figure in their lives.
Why would your heart break for that? Some families are better off without men in them, and a lot of women are capable of raising a family themselves, no men required. Your heart should break for unhappy circumstances, which don’t need assigned gender roles.
Studies have shown that children raised by both a mother and a father tend to be more well-adjusted. There are circumstances where either the mother or father is forced to raise the kids on his or her own, and while that can be hard on the children, an extended family member or trusted adult friends of the opposite gender of the single parent can step in to be a secondary role model for the kiddos. I am a huge supporter of the organization Big Brothers Big Sisters of America because they partner with schools to help fill that void, as well. And based on my involvement with the organization, parents are thrilled to have that support.
It’s not about gender roles. In fact, it’s the opposite. Being raised by both a mother and father allows children to have a more balanced upbringing, with influences from an adult of each gender.
For every study there is that shows what you’re claiming, Ellie, there’s another study that negates it. There are plenty of traditional two-parent families that suffer because one of the parents in the household causes trouble, just as there are plenty of single-parent families that are happy and functional. You can’t generalize and say that families are better off with a male and female adult in the house. I have experience with an organization that advocates for children, whether they have one parent, two parents, or no biological parents. I’ve seen just about everything you could imagine. The outcome for these families depends on parenting skills (which this organization teaches), not number and not gender.
That’s wonderful that you work with an organization that advocates for children. That’s a much needed role. It sounds like we are both misunderstanding each other, so rather than get into a debate, let’s just leave it at that. ๐
Hope you have a wonderful day,
Ellie

Oh my heart breaks too. It’s just too sad for words.
Ellie, I completely agree with you. My husband and I work with children, and there is nothing like the stability that children feel with having both mother and father at home. It is so sad when people put their own feelings above their children and think that their actions wonโt affect how their children feel.
Thank You for the video. My Dad was an inspiration to me. He was orphaned at age 7. His parents died within a month of each other. He did not have a good life in the orphanage. He left at age 12 and went to work. Years ago the authorities did not care about orphan’s welfare. He made a good life for my mother ,me and my sisters. He passed away at age 83, many years ago.

Wow, your dad certainly had a difficult childhood! Sounds like he was living proof of the importance of hard work and determination. Thanks for sharing, Marilyn.
My Dad will be 90 soon. He still lives in a house and still drives. He is a wonderful man and has always been a good Dad to me through the years. I did visit him for Father’s Day!
Aw Ellie what a cute video. I love seeing you together like that. And I like how you brought in about God and encourage through bible verses. Keep it up! And fully agreed with you on the 2 gender parent/balanced kids versus 1 parent/kids. Men haven’t wanted to take their God given roles (leading a family) seriously in this modern age and that’s rapidly making the decline of 2 parents/balanced children something that’s for history. So sad. I’m glad though that I see a lot of potential with you and mr handsome. That your children will have both a mother and a father in their lives…lots of responsibility coming up for you but it’s so worth it!! Anyway, have a great day, Ellie and your hubby

Hi there. Do you have an ad blocker running? For the few who cannot see my videos, that has been the cause for most.

That’s impressive that he still lives in a house and is able to drive at age 90. That’s what I’m hoping for Mr. Handsome and me in our old age. ๐
