On Christmas morning, we awoke to the news of yet another destructive tragedy in Nashville (following the damage caused by severe tornadoes in March and looting in May).
In the early hours of the morning, a suspicious RV was parked in front of the AT&T transmission building in downtown Nashville, just a couple blocks away from the famous Broadway strip. Nearby residents awoke to the sound of gunshots. Soon after, a voice on a loudspeaker began warning everyone to evacuate the area within 15 minutes. The announcement continued until the RV exploded.
There appear to have been no civilian casualties, due to the incredible bravery of 6 Nashville police officers, who risked their lives to knock on residents’ doors and instruct them to leave, despite the ominous countdown and impending danger.
As I read about the incident, I thought to myself, “This sounds like the plot of a movie.” We are hopeful that the federal agents will solve this terrible crime.

Prayers for all who are/were impacted by this tragedy.

Whoever did this picked the wrong city to mess with!

This could have happened Anywhere, USA. The problems of isolation, depression, and mental illness are everywhere.

Hi Ellie, yes I read about it in the paper. Did you and your family have a nice Christmas?
Ellie
We had a lovely Christmas. How about you?
Marni
So scary for you guys! We are in Canada and of course it is broadcasted everywhere. Hope you had a nice quiet Christmas with your little family!
Ellie
We had a wonderful Christmas. How was yours, Marni?
Marni
Our Christmas was quieter than usual. For the first time my parents from anothe province were not there and with our high covid numbers and the restrictions we had we could only host my father in law (who is widowed) once. We did leave meals out for single individuals to pick up but it is a year where we are pretty restricted socially
Ellie
I’m sorry that you weren’t able to see your parents. But how kind of you to leave out meals for people!

We thought the same thing! It sounds like something out of a movie! We are so thankful no one was killed! We live just about 35 miles away, and it is scary to think of something that awful happening so close by! I am grateful for the brave police who risked their own safety to warn others!
Ellie
I agree, it’s certainly scary that it happened so close to home. Hopefully it was an isolated incident.

Hi Ellie,
Hope you and all your family had a healthy, happy holiday. My prayers are with Nashville. I love Nashville, so full of music and food establishments; basically a joyful place to be. They have had their share of tragedies. I pray that law enforcement can safely roust out the terrorist/s responsible for this act. I am grateful to God that there wasn’t loss of life or more serious injury. I pray that the places of home and business that were destroyed will be built back soon, and that Nashville and it’s people will be stronger than ever after recovering. God walks with them. ♥️ Barb

I have been so busy getting ready for Christmas, I just finally had a chance to catch up on your blog posts, Ellie. I am so sorry about your second miscarriage. I know, it’s nearly unbearable.
This is a true story and appropriate for Christmas. When I was in school, every year we acted out the Christmas Pageant. I was always in the chorus, but my neighbor always got to play the Angel. Renee was a beautiful girl with golden curls. Granted, she looked the part of the Angel. But I was so jealous and I sure didn’t think she should be the Angel. She smoked, got physically serious with boys, didn’t finish high school, and was generally considered quite wild back then. Why should she get to be the Angel?!?!
Some years later, another neighbor, my friend Ann, gave birth to a baby girl. Sadly, the baby was born with the cord wrapped around her neck, and she was not alive.
My friend Ann said that when she came to in the hospital, she felt like she was looking into the eyes of an Angel. The attending nurse hugged her and comforted her, stayed by her side, giving her unlimited love and support. The nurse was our neighbor, Renee, who had found a way to finished school and had gone on to become an RN. I was wrong. Renee did deserve to play the angel in the Christmas Pageant.
Ellie, let all those around you be your angels. Let them comfort, love, and support you. Ask them for help when you need it. You are never alone.
Ellie
That is a beautiful story! It brought a smile to my face. Thank you so much for sharing! Wishing you a very happy new year. 🙂

Authorities found that he had purchased bomb making materials. So much for Homeland Security keeping us safe by tracking those things.

Ellie, we are so happy to know you’re safe. Will you be doing a blog post about your Christmas or NYE celebrations? For instance, I’d love to know if you do the Santa thing for Little Buddy, play the “elf on the shelf” game, make special recipes, etc.
Merry Christmas!
Ellie
That’s a great idea. I will do that. 🙂
Happy New Year!
