Christmas Lights in Nashville

December 15, 2017 by 21 Comments

This holiday season, we visited two iconic Nashville attractions to see Christmas lights. Do you enjoy viewing Christmas lights? The first place we visited was Cheekwood, a historic estate that has both a botanical garden and a small art museum. We enjoyed walking the one-mile loop through the outdoor lights, touring the mansion, and browsing the art museum.

As we have for the past few years, we also walked through the three beautiful atrium at the famous Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Opryland is magical at any time of year, and Christmastime is no exception! This year, a portion of the parking lot was blocked off because they are building an indoor-outdoor water park called Sounds Waves, a very appropriate name for a Music City attraction.

In the largest atrium is a huge fountain that shoots water to the beat of Christmas carols.

Outside, they had their usual manger scene and giant tree made of white lights.

Ellie your pictures are beautiful! I love looking at Christmas lights and how businesses and home decorate for Christmas. When we lived in Santa Barbara there was this neighborhood that all the home owners would get together to decorate their houses. The displays were breathtaking.
Here in Arizona there is Prescott which is called The Christmas City because of all the lovely Christmas lights. Ellie if you and your husband ever come to AZ during Christmas you will have to come to Prescott.

Thank you, Regina. I love driving through neighborhoods where all the homes are decorated. Prescott sounds like a wonderful place to visit at Christmastime. Is it still nice and warm down there?

Wow Ellie did Mr Handsome get a haircut? He looks so nice with it shorter like that. That's how it seems in your picture anyway! I really prefer that over the bowl cut he mostly has. Probably because my hubby grew up in a no electricity/plain family and they literally took a bowl and plopped it upside down on the head and scissored whatever's left on the outside. Eww lol! anyway, I thought your man looked nice this time.

Oh yes I wanted to say too I've been to opryland during Christmas before and it's worth going to see! Always wanted to go to cheekwood but haven't made it there yet. We are 2 hrs from Nashville so that does damper the spirits and hinder from doing and seeing what we like to over there! Glad you enjoyed some fun evenings Ellie!

I definitely recommend Cheekwood, although I'm sure every city/town has their own beautiful Christmas lights.

      Merry Christmas!

The only light I enjoy seeing is sunlight. Hours and hours of nice warm sunlight. Artificial illuminations don't do it for me. I can't wait for spring!

Thanks for sharing your beautiful pictures. The decorations are very well-done and elegantly tasteful. I think that I have asked you this before, but what camera do you use?

When we lived in Santa Barbara we used to go see the beautiful Christmas displays in the Veronica Springs area. Sadly the Thomas Fire has prevented that from happening with SCE asking people not to run Christmas lights and the area may be under evacuation orders.

That's sad to hear. We have friends in that area. It's certainly a scary time. Much prayer needed.

Hi there! My favorite Christmas cookies are gingerbread. I shared the recipe last year. Here's the link: https://www.nashvillewife.com/2016/12/gingerbread-cookies-and-royal-icing.html

What's your favorite type of Christmas cookie?
