What’s your favorite book?
When it comes to reading, my priorities are the Bible, devotional books (my current one is “New Morning Mercies” by Paul David Tripp), and books about parenting or marriage.
What’s your favorite music style?
In the car, I’ve always listened to contemporary Christian music, although that is slowly being overridden by Little Buddy’s toddler songs. I enjoy country music, as well.
Would you like to have a pet? Which animal?
I’m not much of an animal person. Years ago, I had birds and hamsters as pets, but I’m not a huge fan of bigger animals. Truthfully, I am quite afraid of dogs. Both Mr. Handsome and I are moderately allergic to furry creatures, as well. Growing up, he had outdoor dogs, and I had no dogs. If our children really want a dog when they are older, we might agree, but we would build it a heated home outdoors.
What’s your favorite dish/meal?
I’ve always had a hard time answering that question because it really depends on my mood, but I am pretty much always up for Italian food. I love fancy noodle dishes, and I have a special place in my heart for Cracker Barrel.
How many languages do you speak?
Just English, unfortunately. I studied French for six years and German for one, but I have forgotten a lot. Mr. Handsome learned Spanish in school, but he hardly remembers anything. I would love for our children to be fluent in a second language.
Will you homeschool your son?
We do plan on homeschooling, and we are looking forward to it. I recently purchased a preschool curriculum for two-year-olds.
Would you like to have a career/job outside the home?
From the time I was little, I have desired to be a full-time wife and mother, and that desire hasn’t changed. I really enjoy being able to blog from home, but my first priority during the day is taking care of my son.
What’s your favorite holiday?
Easter
If you named all of your kids using the same initial, what would it be?
We definitely couldn’t handle that. Coming up with baby names that we both like is a challenge, and I think it would be impossible if we had to stick to one letter.

Reading the Bible and devotional books…listening to Christian music…starting to see a pattern here. Don’t you feel a little one-dimensional? It’s possible to be a good person and not spend so much time engrossed in religion.
Julie
One is allowed to their preferences, don’t you think?

Thank you for answering, Ellie!

Ellie
I agree, it does!

We had outdoor dogs at my grandparents and indoor later, I have to say that I would never keep them outside again, unless it was a farm

You can’t have Cats either?
Ellie
That’s a good question. I would assume so, but all the people we know who have cats also have dogs, so it’s hard to tell.

If you would not want a dog to come in your home should you really even consider a dog? How cruel and selfish it would be to bring “home” a new family member and leave them outside heated or not.

I agree. Poor doggy!

Hi Ellie,
I have a little one who is right around little buddy’s age. And I wanted to recommend a new parenting book my husband and I have been listening to: Hunt, Gather, Parent. We would describe it as life changing (for the better).
We also had a pregnancy loss at the end of last year, so thinking of your little family.
Ellie
Thank you for the recommendation. I haven’t heard of that book but will have to look into it. I am so sorry to hear about your loss!

Just curious why is Easter your favorite holiday? I like Easter too 🙂
Ellie
It’s just such a happy time, celebrating the new life we have in Christ, at the same time as new life is budding around us.
Ellyn
Aw so true! It is a great time of year.
Anne
Easter is my favorite too! We had several outdoor dogs growing up and one indoor….who always wanted to be outdoor ha! Maybe one day we’ll get one….but it sure is nice not having to buy dog food.

Please don’t ever get a pet if you have no intention of making it a member of your family. I have respect for people who say that they don’t want one in the house therefore they’d never have one. Pets are social animals and want to be with their humans. To keep a dog outside 24/7 is cruel. It’s best not to have one at all if that is the stipulation. Same goes for a cat. Thank you for being honest about it.

I’ve found that its really not cruel especially if they have good out door space and children, as children often spend huge amounts of time outdoors playing. Cats especially love hunting outdoors and climbing trees. My cats are indoor-outdoor, but after being inside for awhile they like to go outside and hunt. Our dogs also love being outside and right now most prefer to be outside from sunup to sundown. Treat animals well, love them, feed them, and they will be just dandy.

As an animal lover I would suggest for you to not get a dog if you intend to keep it outside. They want to be part of the family. They are pack animals and you will be lovingly thought of as their pack.
