Banjo Christmas Tunes

December 11, 2018 by 22 Comments

Mr. Handsome has been practicing his banjo! He came up with his own arrangement of the popular Christmas carol “O Come O Come Emmanuel,” for the sole purpose of sharing it with my blog readers. Our video is below.

Banjos and bagpipes…both too twangy and harsh for my ears. Does Mr. H play the piano? You should get a piano.

He learned piano as a young child, but until last year, he hadn’t played it in years. He thinks he’s terrible, but he’s really quite good. We don’t have room in our house for a piano, but my in-laws have one.

That is a GORGEOUS arrangement of that song. I can’t believe how good it sounds on the banjo!

Hi Nelda. It should be right under the paragraph of text in this post. Perhaps try a different device or browser?

It doesn’t show if you have an ad block. You’ll need to disable that.

I have an ad blocker and the video does show without changing any settings. Laptop, not phone. I don’t see any ads, BTW.

Thank you Ellie and your other half. That sounded pretty. For a Christmas concert my friend, my husband and I played this song. Our instructor taught children’s music classes but also encouraged the parents to join too. so O Come O Come Immanuel was the song she chose for us parents. My friend and I were on alto recorders and he was on autoharp. It sounded very pretty even though I we were all very nervous.

I’m sure it sounded beautiful! I think the autoharp is similar to the zither. I had a child-sized zither when I was young, and it was a lot of fun. Had a beautiful sound to it.

Great job! I would think the banjo is a difficult instrument, so bravo!

Thanks, Melanie! You’re very right, the banjo is a difficult instrument. I am impressed every time my husband plays it. ๐Ÿ™‚
